Education Director, Heska Amuna Synagogue, Knoxville, Tennessee
The religious school of Heska Amuna Synagogue, a Conservative congregation of about 200 households in Knoxville, Tennessee, has an opening for a Director of Education. The position to be filled will be a salaried, part-time position (20 to 30 hours/week) based on the qualifications and needs of the candidate. The school is an integral part of our religious community with classes on Sunday and Wednesday for students preschool through high school.
Skills sought for the Director consist of experience and/or capabilities to assure the smooth-running operations of the school which includes scheduling, staffing and training, program communications, student safety, family engagement, and budgeting. Additionally, it is desirable that the Director be trained as an educator with knowledge of Judaic studies, Jewish history, Hebrew, and prayers typical of a Conservative congregation. The Director should be an enthusiastic advocate for students and families, have strong communication skills, and possess capability for program organization, team building, and of course, a love of children and learning.
