It is an honor to serve as Youth and Family Programming Director at Heska Amuna Synagogue. I have been involved in Jewish Education since I was 16 years old and had the opportunity to be a Madracha (Teacher Assistant) at my synagogue. It did help my Dad was the Principal of the Religious School. .
I grew up in Matawan, New Jersey which is located very near to the Jersey shore. I am married to my college sweetheart, Lester. We are the proud parents of Karen, a Library and Technology teacher for the Freehold Boro Schools in New Jersey and Erik, a Special Olympics Athlete. Our third but very furry child is Scarlett O’Hara Golub. I have three grandchildren, Steven, Rachel and Dylan.
I have been an active member of the Jewish Educators Assembly of United Synagogue. The JEA holds a yearly conference for educators from across the country. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn along with your colleagues. I also serve on the Curriculum Committee for the JEA.
I realized very early on the joy of being Jewish. This is what I hope to transmit to our children. I have implemented new curricula since coming to Heska Amuna Synagogue. I encourage learning through doing, a hands on experiential educational approach to Judaism. This lends itself to seek and find the joy in holiday celebrations, doing mitzvot and learning why our values shape us as individuals.
We offer education from birth to seniors. Please join us throughout the year to experience the ruach and joy of Heska Amuna.
