Kallah 2025 – Join us at Camp Ramah Darom’s Southern Shmooze, Fri. Jan 31 to Sun. Feb 2, 2025

Relive your childhood (or find out what you missed by not going to Camp Ramah) and spend a Relaxing Shabbat at Camp Ramah Darom with your Heska Amuna family.

Heska Amuna Synagogue is delighted to be invited to this year’s Southern Schmooze, a retreat program of Camp Ramah Darom. Thank you to Rabbi Adam Rosenbaum who is helping organize this weekend with Conservative congregations from Chattanooga, Greenville, South Carolina, and Montgomery.

Like our Kallahs of the past, Southern Shmooze will offer a weekend full of activities – all elective – for prayer, play, and exploring the beautiful setting of Camp Ramah Darom.

Full Shabbat services will be held along with hikes to waterfalls, study, art, indoor and outdoor games, and more. This will be a great opportunity to meet members of Heska Amuna that you may not know well, and members from other small southern congregations, too.  Enjoy the great outdoors and immerse yourself in a Shabbat where you will be the guest of the camp.  If you’re worried about getting around while at the camp don’t be – there are plenty of golf carts to help people with mobility issues.

You also will be treated to wonderful Kosher meals in the amazing dining room (without doing any cooking or dish washing).

The all-inclusive cost of the program (excluding transportation) is $185 per person; children under 2 are free.  The Synagogue will be helping to arrange transportation if you do not want to drive yourself (70 Darom Lane, Clayton GA, a three hour drive from Knoxville).

How to sign up? First, just send Marc Forman, our Shmooze organizer, an email to let us know you will be coming and then register to attend on Camp Ramah Darom’s website at  https://www.ramahdarom.org/southern-schmooze-shabbaton/. (For those of you who already have accounts from having children attending camp, be sure to log into your camp account first). If you need any help with registering, logistics, or anything else, just let us know.

Added Bonus: do you have a teenager who might want to explore camp? There will be a concurrent program running for teens.  Wow!  A weekend with and away from the kids while they are in a safe place, that’s a plus. If you have further questions, please contact Marc Forman at marcforman@hotmail.com or 865-705-7075.  Let’s get ready to Shmooze!
